Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds is a registered not-for-profit charitable Foundation, established to improve outcomes in areas relating to psychological safety and physical wellbeing, across the road transport, warehousing and logistics industries in Australia.
The core vision of the Foundation is to coordinate a national approach to creating healthy and thriving working environments that can be adopted by all operators within the sector.
Mission statement:
Our goal is to provide everyone in the transport and logistics industries with what they need to support their mental health and physical wellbeing, and to ensure these needs are recognised as being vital to support a thriving workforce into tomorrow.
Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds is built on three key pillars:
- Training – An increase in the number of people trained in mental health at transport and logistics facilities
- Standards – Standardisation of policies and regulation at transport and logistics facilities
- Wellness – Helping the individual be healthier from a diet and mental health perspective

Understanding the current state of mental health in the industry
Mental health is a significant issue for the Australian road transport and logistics industries. Risk factors such as long hours, workplace isolation, pressure to meet delivery schedules and the need for continual alertness while operating heavy machinery all contribute to making those in the transport, postal and warehousing industries extremely vulnerable to mental health issues.rnrnThe impact of mental health and poor individual wellbeing, has not only significant impact at the individual level for those affected, but also company and economy wide, with billions lost due to lowered productivity and associated medical costs.rnrnConversely, it can be demonstrated that companies that do invest in good mental health initiatives will receive positive returns such as improved productivity, reduced sick leave and overall healthier long-serving employees.rnrn rnrnNot all operators or businesses are able to make that investment, which is why it is important for Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds to provide support across all levels of the sector, regardless of circumstances.
Formation of Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds
In the absence of a national industry approach to improve outcomes relating to psychological safety and physical health for workers across the road transport and logistics sector, Australia Post, Coles, Linfox, Toll, Ron Finemore Transport, Woolworths Group and Qube combined as founding partners to establish the Foundation. Further support from the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR) and the Federal Government enabled the inception and development of the Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds Foundation.rnrn rnrnHealthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds is a registered stand-alone not-for-profit (NFP) entity for the benefit of the broader road transport and logistics industries, with an independent industry and skills-based board. The overarching objective is to provide a national holistic approach to improving mental and physical health across the sector.
