Announcing Healthy Heads Partnership with TradeMutt!

Healthy Heads and TradeMutt are pleased to announce their partnership marking a significant step in addressing mental health challenges within the transport, warehousing, and logistics sector.

TradeMutt is a social impact workwear brand, founded by tradies for tradies. They make eye catching work wear designed to start conversations about mental health among the blue-collar community. When a shirt is purchased from TradeMutt, 50% of the profit is donated to TIACS (This is a Conversation Starter), who provide free mental health counselling for tradies, truck drivers, farmers, rural, and blue-collar workers, and their families and friends.

“In our industry people turn up to work in their high vis shirts to make sure they can be seen and stay safe. TradeMutt high vis shirts make our mental health visible every day, the bright and fun fabric design draws attention, and the shirts include a message on the back that says, ‘This is a Conversation Starter’. What a great way to make psychological safety just as prominent as physical safety.” Says Healthy Heads CEO, Naomi Frauenfelder.

“Healthy Heads was established to provide everyone in the sector with what they need to support their mental health, by promoting TIACS we are encouraging early help seeking and connecting people to the professional support they need”.

Healthy Heads has collaborated with TradeMutt to design and manufacture a custom Healthy Heads TradeMutt shirt. This includes a custom fabric representing different aspects of the industry in graphic form like trucks and forklifts.

Through this partnership, we will continue to raise awareness of mental health and wellbeing in the workplace and reduce stigma within the industry and encourage individuals to reach out and start a conversation.

So, why not join us in supporting mental health and wellbeing in the workplace by wearing a Healthy Heads TradeMutt shirt. Let’s start conversations and make a difference together.

A Day in the Life of a Tickford Racing Truckie

Have you ever wondered what it’s like to drive a B-Double with two Supercars inside it? With thanks to the ongoing support of our Foundation Partner, NTI, and Tickford Racing, we asked David “Dodge” Aldridge, Tickford Racing’s Truck Driver, a few questions to find out what it’s like!

  • How long have you been driving trucks?

It would be close to 30 years. 10 in New Zealand and 20 in Australia

  • How long have you been with Tickford Racing and what attracted you to the role initially?

14 Years with Tickford. The excitement and thrill of working in motorsport, qualifying well, podiums, race wins. Driving and looking after the transporters.

  • What is your favourite thing about driving trucks?

Being your ‘own’ boss as such out on the road. We know the time frames needed to get there. Travelling with other teams, just blokes doing a job but all truckies at heart. If someone has a flat tyre or a breakdown, stop and help them, it doesn’t matter what shirt they are wearing.

  • Given sometimes you need to travel long distances to get to a race weekend, what measures do you take to maintain your health while on the road?

Plenty of sleep, rest beforehand. A good night’s sleep on the road to the event.

  • How important is it to be aware of mental health as a truck driver, and how do you maintain a healthy mindset?

It is very important to try to not let negative news get you down. Be around good people, have a laugh and a bit of friendly banter.

  • How do you stay connected with family and friends while traveling for extended periods?

Phone calls and facetime when stopped for the night.

  • What advice would you give to someone who is considering a career as a truck driver?

Listen to others that have been around. Everyone started somewhere so we all had to learn and never stop learning
