Legal Forum and Corporate Partner Event Recap

On August 8, Healthy Heads held a Psychosocial Health and Safety Forum, followed by its annual Corporate Partner Event later that evening.

The Forum, hosted by Colin Biggers & Paisley Lawyers (CBP), was attended by 30 industry representatives, including safety professionals and transport operators. Leanne Dearlove, CBP’s Special Counsel with over ten years of experience in employment law and industrial relations, explained how to best navigate new psychosocial hazard management legislation that focused on liability and psychological injury claims and management. Kristen Lopes, a Partner in CBP’s Employment and Safety team, also joined in for questions and discussion.

AP Psychology & Consulting Services’ (APPCS) Founder and CEO Arthur Papagiannis then offered an overview of the Healthy Heads strategic framework designed to support psychological health and safety across the industry, including the Seven Workplace Strategies. Arthur briefed the audience on the resources that APPCS have worked with Healthy Heads to develop; resources that have been tailored to help businesses of all sizes take a planned approach to managing psychosocial hazards by developing their own Workplace Wellbeing Plan.

Next up was the Corporate Partner Event, held at the Australian National Maritime Museum in Sydney. First at the podium was master of ceremonies Qube Holdings General Manager of Safety, Health and Sustainability Belinda Flynn, followed by the event’s guest speaker; truck driver, Lifeline Ambassador, and all-around great guy Ian “Eno” Taylor. In a moving, passionate speech that captured the hearts of everyone in attendance, Eno shared his experiences with mental health and highlighted the need for psychologically safe and healthy working environments within our sector. Healthy Heads Chair and Australia Post Group CEO and Managing Director Paul Graham then took the stage to share our past successes and future plans with the attendees.

A massive thank you to event sponsors, Qube Holdings and WHG Telematics and to all of the industry representatives and Corporate Partners who turned up to make this such a special and successful day.

It’s events like these that remind us all why we do what we do.
