Manage your mental health and support others with free training courses

The Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds Foundation (Healthy Heads) offers a range of mental health training courses that empower people to manage their own mental health and support those they work with. Best of all, these extensive training programs are coming to you at no cost for a limited time only.

The training courses were developed and tailored to industry in response to increasing awareness of mental health and wellbeing issues present within the transport, warehousing and logistics sector, which is the lowest ranked industry in Australia in terms of workplace mental health and wellbeing (19th out of 19 sectors).

Healthy Heads wants to equip individuals and organisations in the sector with the necessary skills and knowledge to better support their mental health.

The training courses cover a range of critical areas, including strategies for recognising warning signs of distress, communicating safely about mental health and suicide, responding with empathy and without judgement, de-escalating anger, knowing the factors that support wellness, and many more.

The training courses have both face to face and online options, varying in length from two hours of self-paced e-learning to half-day and two day courses. Because these training programs cover a wide variety of topics, there is a course for everyone, including forklift drivers, truck drivers, warehouse and distribution centre team members, supervisors and executives.

Healthy Heads CEO Naomi Frauenfelder said these training courses are essential for building capacity when it comes to talking about mental health and wellbeing for people working in road transport, warehousing and logistics.

“Offering training programs for those working within the industry is a proactive approach, giving people the skills, knowledge and experience to look after their own mental health, and support those around them. It is also critical to early intervention and the framework of prevention, protection, and support which informs our approach at Healthy Heads,” said Ms Frauenfelder.

“The training courses have been specifically tailored to people working in the sector to ensure that each course is relatable and effective.”

Geoff Crouch, Director of Ron Crouch Transport, speaks highly of these training programs, and asks that all businesses within the sector consider the many benefits of enrolment.

“As an employer in this industry, I would encourage every other employer to check out the Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds website, look at the various training courses that are available, and see what you can do as far as facilitating training for your people,” said Mr Crouch.

“Make a difference within your organisation, make a real difference in our community.”

There are several training programs coming up soon, but only a handful of places are still available that can be accessed here.
